"From helmets to high-viz gear, we break down the absolute essentials you should never ride without. Stay safe and seen on road."
Safety shouldn't be an afterthought. Whether you're commuting to work or hitting the trails for the first time, having the right gear can save your life.
1. The Helmet: Non-Negotiable
Look for MIPS technology which provides better protection against rotational forces during an impact. Ensure it's properly fitted—not too loose, not too tight.
2. Lights: Be Seen, Stay Safe
Even in broad daylight, flashing daytime running lights significantly increase your visibility to motorists. A 500+ lumen front light and a 50+ lumen rear light are recommended.
3. High-Reflective Apparel
Modern cycling kit often includes reflective strips. If yours doesn't, consider a lightweight high-viz vest or ankle bands, which are particularly effective because motorists' eyes are drawn to the movement of your legs.
